May 16, 2019 (newstodate): The new Danish airline venture, Great Dane Airlines, based at Aalborg Airport, has now taken delivery of its first aircraft.
The first of two ex-Stobart Air Embraer 195LR aircraft landed at Aalborg Airport this morning, and the second aircraft will follow on June 24, 2019.
-Both aircraft have been acquired by our new investor, Eigil B. Christensen, who transfers the aircraft to Great Dane Airlines on a leasing contract, says Thomas Hugo Moller, Great Dane Airlines CEO.
-If we do not manage to land our own AOC before the start of services, the aircraft will be operated on the AOC of Stobart Air as a temporary measure.
Great Dane Airlines will start out with flights from Aalborg Airport to Dublin from June 21, 2019, with two weekly rotations, adding flights to Edinburgh from June 24 with two rotations, and flights to Nice from June 26.
But besides the scheduled services, the carrier is also to provide capacity for tour operators as well as for airlines on ACMI basis.
