May 14, 2019 (newstodate): Finnair is again adjusting its services to China in 2019.
The carrier recently announced the decision to turn its route from Helsinki to Guangzhou into a year-round service offering two weekly rotations during the next winter schedule, while offering four weekly rotations with Airbus A350 aircraft during the current summer schedule.
Guangzhou became Finnair's fourth Chinese destination from September 4, 2005, with three weekly MD-11 rotations, going up to four rotations from summer 2006, but pulled out from the route from winter 2009 as recession set in.
Finnair however returned to Guangzhou again from May 6, 2015 with four weekly rotations during the summer schedules.
But at the same time, Finnair has now announced that flights on its route from Helsinki to Chongqing will be suspended during the coming winter schedule.
As the first European airline to offer direct flights from Europe to Chongqing, Finnair started operating the route to Chongqing from May 9, 2012, served initially with four weekly Airbus A340 rotations on a year-round basis.
