May 27, 2019 (newstodate): A history spanning decades of air services between two destinations is no guarantee for sustaining a route..
After 48 years of unbroken air services, British Airways is thus pulling out from the route connecting London Heathrow and St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport, with the last flight to be performed on October 3, 2019.
St Petersburg will thus lose its only flight into London Heathrow, leaving passengers to fly with Rossiya on the route between St Petersburg and London Gatwick Airport.
Also from October 3, 2019, British Airways is to pull the plug on the route between London Heathrow and Kiev, in Ukraine, after having been on-line on the route since 1990.
On this route, services are however also provided by Ryanair from London Stansted, and by Wizz Air from London Luton Airport.
