May 15, 2019 (newstodate): Allegedly the world's largest narrow-body ACMI operator, Avion Express is having a busy period topped by the current Boeing 737 MAX grounding haunting many airlines.
Avion Express is thus operating up to four Airbus A320 aircraft for Norwegian in April-June 2019, and another ACMI contract was landed with Royal Air Maroc also during the period March-April 2019.
This came on top of long- and short-term contracts with existing customers including Thomas Cook Airlines, Condor, Sky Angkor Airlines, SunExpress, Onur Air, Tunisair, Transavia and others.
Operating for ACMI customers in Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia-Pacific, Avion Express is planning for a fleet comprising 22 Airbus A320 family aircraft in 2019, up from "only" 17 aircraft as of now.
-Thanks to our long-term relations with lessors, we have been lucky enough to source the five additional Airbus A320 aircraft that will enter commercial service already by the end of this month after completion of pre-delivery maintenance, says David Mason, Avion Express Chairman of the Board.
-The fleet expansion was actually planned for 2019, but the opportunity arose to speed up the process, and we certainly have no problems with assigning contracts for this additional capacity, says Mr Masson.
