Apr 02, 2019 (newstodate): Truly a niche-player, the Estonian carrier Nyxair, based at Tallinn Airport, obtained its AOC in March 2018 with one SAAB 340 aircraft in the fleet - but is on a growth path.
-We now have two SAAB 340 passenger aircraft and one SAAB 340 freighter, but we are looking into sourcing a third SAAB 340 passenger aircraft, says Jaanus Ojamets, Nyxair CEO.
-Our focus is on the ACMI market where we find a strong demand for aircraft the size of the SAAB 340 that is excellent on shorter point-to-point routes where it operates smoothly and cost-efficiently with 30 to 36 seats, or some 3.8 tonnes of cargo capacity in the freighter version.
-Already for some time now, one of our passenger aircraft is based in Italy, but this operation is currently undergoing changes to be announced shortly, says Mr Ojamets, who until October 1, 2017 served as CEO of another Estonian carrier, Airest.
