Apr 09, 2019 (newstodate): Steering the Norwegian LCC since its inception has been Bjorn Kjos as CEO and part-owner.
Now, the decision has been made to name a Deputy CEO for the carrier, Geir Karlsen, serving with the carrier since April 2018 in the position as CFO and, since July 2018, also member of the Board of Arctic Aviaoitn Assets.
Over the last 12 years, Mr Karlsen has held various CFO positions with international companies such as Golden Ocean Group and Songa Offshore.
The new appointment comes in a time of crucial decisions to steer Norwegian through financial problems and rapid expansion of Norwegian's global route network, while the current grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX fleet is adding to the plights of the company.
Behind the appointment of a Deputy CEO is probably also plans for a smooth transition to a new top management when Mr Kjos retires from first-echelon leadership.
