Apr 23, 2019 (newstodate): The EU Commission has updated its Air Safety List comprising airlines that do not meet international safety standards, and are therefore subject to an operating ban or operational restrictions within the European Union.
On this latest edition of the list is a total of 120 companies, primarily in Asia and Africa, banned from operating in the European Union.
114 are certified carriers in 16 countries where a lack of security by the aviation authorities has been identified.
All of Moldova's carriers, except for Air Moldova, Fly One and Aerotranscargo, are now banned from the EU airspace, and the civil aviation authority of Belarus has been put under increased control, due to suspicion of a decrease in safety oversight.
Iran Aseman Airlines and Iraqi Airways are banned due to internal security concerns, and North Korea's Air Koryo and Iran Air are limited in the use of the type of aircraft operated.
