Apr 09, 2019 (newstodate): Contrary to media speculations, the Mexican carrier InterJet will keep the 22 Superjet 100 aircraft now in the fleet, but will refuse to take delivery of the eight aircraft also ordered earlier.
Most of the 22 Superjet 100 aircraft are, however, stuck on the ground for lack of maintenance and spares for the engines.
The debt-ridden carrier has proved unable to pay for the engine maintenance and repairs and has turned to Sukhoi to obtain an agreement for engine repairs to be paid at a later date as revenues allow.
InterJet that placed its first Superjet 100 in commercial service in summer 2013 is the largest carrier outside Russia to operate the Superjet 100 aircraft.
