Apr 16, 2019 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier is seeing more flights and more passengers in 2019 - but load factors are down.
During Q1, 2019, the carrier operated a total of 12,740 flights carrying 729,897 passengers.
This was an increase in number of flights by 10 percent, y-o-y, while the number of passengers increased by 12 percent.
At the same time, the passenger load factor dropped from 67 percent in Q1, 2018, to 62 percent in 2019 as the carrier continues to grow its fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft on its expanding route network, replacing the Boeing 737-500.
The Airbus A220-300 carries 145 passengers, while the Boeing 737-500 will take some 122 passengers, so airBaltic obviously still has some way to go before the Airbus cabins fill up on its routes...
