Apr 26, 2019 (newstodate): The Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air is adding one more route to its services at Lithuania's Palanga Airport, close to the Baltic Sea coast.
The new route connects Palanga with Dortmund in Germany with two weekly rotations.
Wizz Air launched flights at Kaunas Airport on March 29, 2016, having established Vilnius as its 14th operational base from April 17, 2011, and adding flights at Palanga Airport starting from March 23, 2016, thus serving all three Lithuanian airports.
Prior to this, Wizz Air actually tested out Palanga as a destination already from December 1, 2005, with flights to Warsaw as well as planning for adding Malmo, in Sweden, from Palanga Airport.
But the operation did not perform well, and Wizz Air pulled out again from Palanga Airport on September 8, 2006.
