Apr 05, 2019 (newstodate): In March 2019, Finnair Cargo again reported RTKs overtaking ATKs, up 18.4 and 19.6 percent, respectively, mostly driven by a sustained strong positive cargo market development in Japan and the Nordic countries.
The carrier thus lifted a total of 13,910 tones of cargo in April, up 16.2 percent, y-o-y, bringing the total carried in Q1 to 37,529 tonnes, also an increase by 29.7 percent.
Growing the most were volumes on the European traffic that was up by 54.1 percent to 2,703 tonnes, while volumes on the crucial Asian lanes also increased by 18.3 percent to 10,433 tonnes.
On the North Atlantic lanes volumes were 725 tonnes, more modestly up by 8.2 percent, y-o-y.
In Q1, 2019, volumes on the Asian lanes increased 20.3 percent to 27,996 tonnes, and the European cargo also increased by no less than 89 percent to 7,304 tonnes.
