Apr 15, 2019 (newstodate): The Swedish travelers seem to have lost much of their appetite for air travel.
A mix of Swedish air taxation and the energetic and much-hyped campaigning of a teenage environmentalist has brought passenger volumes to stagnate or decrease at most, including the largest, of the country's airports.
Thus, out of 38 airports, only five emerged in Q1 with positive growth figures, all of them with smaller volumes topped by Luleaa Kallax Airport where growth was 1.4 percent, y-o-y, to 286,509 passengers in January-March 2019.
Volumes at Stockholm Arlanda Airport thus dropped 3.8 percent to 5,633,170, volumes at Gothenburg Airport went down 4.3 percent to 1,378,780 and volumes at Malmo Airport decreased 10.8 percent to 432,686 passengers.
