Apr 08, 2019 (newstodate): According to a Chinese media, Helsinki will be added in 2019 to the route net of Chengdu Airport, in China's Sichuan province.
While the supposed carrier is not named, Lucky Air stands out as the probably operator of the route to Helsinki.
Already in 2017, the HNA Group subsidiary Lucky Air applied to the Civil Aviation Administration of China for a license to open a route from Kunming via Chengdu to Helsinki.
The application was approved for flights to commence with two weekly rotations from January 17, 2018, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft - but the airline did not exert the rights.
Lucky Air, set up in 2004, now operates a fleet comprising 55 aircraft including four Airbus A330-300.
