Apr 30, 2019 (newstodate): Cargo volumes on Russian carriers experienced a drop by 6.3 percent, y-o-y, during this year's first quarter.
A total of 239,729 tonnes of cargo was carried in Q1, 2019, against 243,223 tonnes the year before.
Among the 35 carriers on the list, #1 AirBridgeCargo lifted 121,751 tonnes, down 6.8 percent, y-o-y, #2 Aeroflot carried 45,832 tonnes and down 3.6 percent, #3 Pobeda lifted 9,651 tonnes and up no less than 43.8 percent, #4 Rossiya carried 7,754 tonnes, also up 16.9 percent, and #5 Sibir carried 7,237 tonnes and down 2.4 percent, y-o-y.
Together, these five airlines thus accounted for 79.8 percent of all cargo on Russian airlines during the first quarter of this year, corresponding to 192,225 tonnes of cargo.
Most notably, the low-cost carrier Pobeda has secured a firm position on the Top-5 list, squeezing out competitors inluding Volga-Dnepr that is now as low as #12 with 3,678 tonnes after dropping 35.9 percent, y-o-y, in volumes.
Only until two years ago, Volga-Dnepr was around the #3 position on the list
