Apr 12, 2019 (newstodate): The Norwegian pilot training institute, OSM Aviation has opted for electrically-driven training aircraft.
OSM Aviation has thus placed an order with the US-based Bye Aerospace for 60 all-electric eFlyer2 aircraft for pilot training purposes at its OSM Aviation Academy.
The coming batch of e2Flyer aircraft will replace the training institute's 20 Cessna 172 to cut operational costs, and reduce its environmental impact.
In the air for the first time on 10 April 10, 2018, the two-seats e2Flyer aircraft, capable of performing 3.5 hours flights, is designed for the flight training market with a single tractor electric motor powered by Lithium-ion batteries.
