Mar 12, 2019 (newstodate): Carriers offering non-stop flights on routes between India and the Nordic markets are seeing cargo volumes growing, with fairly balanced operations.
Leading the market in India-Nordic air traffic is Finnair that has been online on the route between Helsinki and Delhi since November 1, 2006, now offering daily rotations.
Joining in 2017 was Air India with three daily rotations on the route from Delhi to Stockholm, in Sweden, since August 15, 2017 and three daily rotations from Delhi to Copenhagen since September 16, 2017.
According to the latest statistics covering Q4, 2018, Finnair Cargo lifted 630 tonnes, up 19 percent y-o-y, from Helsinki to Delhi, and 657 tonnes, down nine percent, from Delhi to Stockholm.
In the same period, Air India lifted 282 tonnes, up 135 percent, y-o-y, from Stockholm to Delhi, and 189 tonnes, up 128 percent, y-o-y, from Delhi to Stockholm.
Finally, Air India lifted 299 tonnes, up 148 percent y-o-y, from Copenhagen to Delhi, and 315 tonnes, up 18 percent, from Delhi to Copenhagen.
On the passenger side, volumes are growing, too, through 2018.
More then 250,000 passengers thus traveled between Delhi and the Nordic region in 2018, up 86.7 percent, y-o-y.
Helsinki Airport saw pax volumes on this lane up 20.9 percent, to 118,683 passengers, in Copenhagen the growth was 333.3 percent to 71,569 passengers, while Stockholm saw 62,402 passengers to and from India, up 202.7 percent, y-o-y.
