Mar 06, 2019 (newstodate): The new carrier under formation, FlyBosnia set up in 2017 has still some way to go before launch of services.
The earlier plans called for the first commercial flights by June, 2018, already, but the process for landing an AOC from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate for Civil Aviation ha been long underway, and the process was not completed until January 11, 2019.
In the fleet is now one Airbus A319 aircraft on a lease contract with AerCap, but a LoI has now been signed for addition of a further three Airbus A319 before the end of this year, and plans are to grow the fleet further to eight aircraft by 2023.
The airline plans start out with routes from Sarajevo to Riyadh and Jedda, later adding also flights to other destinations including London and Frankfurt.
Behind the carrier is the al-Shiddi Group, the largest Saudi investor in Bosnia and Herzegovina and operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2006
