Mar 26, 2019 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is advancing on its plans to become an all-Airbus A220 operator already in 2019, one year earlier than originally planned.
The carrier has thus entrusted Skytech-AIC to market four of its six Boeing 737-300 and two Boeing 737-500 aircraft together with their CFM56 engines.
The aircraft, built between 1995 and 1999, will become available in November or December of this year.
Earlier, three of the carrier's Boeing 737-500 aircraft found a new life with Lithuania's KlasJet, with the first ex-airBaltic Boeing 737-500 aircraft entering service with KlasJet from January 2019, and the next two aircraft to follow in Q2, 2019.
airBaltic received its first leased Boeing 737-500 aircraft in November 2003 and performed its first commercial flight with the aircraft on November 24 from Riga to Copenhagen.
