Mar 28, 2019 (newstodate): Pursuant to the instruction by the country's now former president, Kazakhstan Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure has firmed up preparations for start of direct flights to Japan.
Slated for launch of services between Nursultan, formerly Astana, and Tokyo, Air Astana will start offering nonstop flights on the route from the latter half of 2019, initially with two weekly rotations using Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
This follows on news on flights by Air Astana between Astana and New York from late in 2019, and plans for introducing also flights to Shanghai as the next move.
Air Astana's long-haul aircrft fleet currently comprises three Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, while orders have been placed for three Boeing 787-8 aircraft, to be delivered from 2021.
