Mar 13, 2019 (newstodate): Norway's Haugesund Karmoy Airport, till now managed by Avinor, has new operators from 2019: the Norwegian development organization Lufthavnsutbyggning AS, in cooperation with the Norwegian regional airline Wideroe under a 20-year management contract.
Originally, the cut-over date would be Q1, 2019 - but it has now tentatively been moved forward to May 2019.
-We must recognize that the full process is more complex than anticipated, also in light of the fact that the airport is a going business with daily operations, says Martin Laurhammer, Lufthavnutbygging AS.
-We are working closely together with our partner, Wideroe, and are benefiting also from a smooth cooperation with Avinor to ensure that the changes do not affect the airport's daily operations and customer satisfaction.
-We are therefore now working in parallel with Avinor until the day when we can fully take over all airport activities, including the running of IT and other pertinent systems.
-Focusing on the smooth completion of the current take-over process is therefore now our top priority, leaving plans for setting up cargo operations to lift Norwegian seafood exports directly from the airport close to the production sites in northern Norway on the shelf for the time being, says Mr Laurhammer.
Haugesund Karmoy Airport features a 2,120m runway, with scheduled flights to Oslo as well as low-cost and charter operations.
