Mar 04, 2019 (newstodate): Falling import volumes are hampering growth at Denmark's Billund Airport in 2019. In February 2019, the airport thus saw import volumes down by 21.7 percent, y-o-y, to 1,538 tonnes after a fall by 14.6 percent in January. On the bright side, exports are growing again, up 13.4 percent to 4,083 tonnes in February 2019 after a fall by 3.5 percent in January. In February, the airport thus handled a total of 5,621 tonnes of cargo, a modest increase by one percent, y-o-y. During the first two months of 2019 the airport thus generated a total of 11,238 tonnes of cargo, 3.4 percent below last year's figures. The cargo volumes in January and February 2018 were however marked by unusual high growth rates at 14.7 and 10.8 percent, respectively. January 2018 was actually the airport's best-ever month ever, measured in cargo volumes.
