Mar 14, 2019 (newstodate): Plans are underway for construction of a new aircraft maintenance facility at Lithuania's Siauliai Airport.
-The Lithuanian company JSC Termicom has two land plots on lease agreements with our airport, and the municipality has confirmed the allocation of euro 10 mio for investment in development of the airport's infrastructure, says Aurelija Kuezada, Siauliai Airport Airport Director.
-According to the mutual investment plan, construction works should start by late autumn 2019, and the MRO facility is slated to start operations by March 2021, says Ms Kuezada.
While details are still scarce, the MRO facility will provide maintenance works on both Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircarft.
Termicom is part of the Estonian Comletec Group that also comprises the carrier GetJet Airlines operating four Airbus A320, one Airbus A330 and five Boeing 737 Classic aircraft.
Owned jointly by Lithuania's Ministry of Defense and Siauliai Municipality, Siauliai Airport with does not belong to the State Enterprise Lithuanian Airports comprising the airports at Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga.
A former Soviet air base, Siauliai Airport with a 3,500m CAT 1 runway and a second 3,280m runway is today also a key air base serving the NATO air forces supporting the monitoring of the Baltic air space.
