Mar 07, 2019 (newstodate): Why don't pharma shippers join their logistics stakeholders in the efforts to expand the coverage of IATA's CEIV certification? The question was raised among the audience at the CPH Cargo Community Event on February 6, 2019. As the question did not draw a conclusive comment, newstodate has sought clarification in the industry. -Novo Nordisk takes the EU Good Distribution Practice and WHO as guidelines for our transportation. At this stage we therefore do not expect to seek CEIV certification, says Morten Duus Eriksen, Novo Nordisk Global Freight Manager, Shipping & Customer Service, in a response to newstodate's inquiry. From IATA, the response is quite definitive: -Pharma shippers do not participate in the CEIV Pharma certification program. Their activities are more focused on storage. The CEIV Pharma program targets transportation and handling companies, not shippers, says Ronald Schaefer, Senior Principal, Consulting at IATA, and Head of the IATA CEIV Program. -However, we cooperate with pharma shippers to ensure that the standard is aligned with their needs.
