Mar 14, 2019 (newstodate): Armenia hopes to see European low-cost carriers bringing more - and cheaper - connectivity to the land-locked country.
On one hand, a delegation from the country's CAA has been negotiating with Ryanair in Dublin for launch of Ryanair flights from yet unnamed European points to Yerevan, potentially already from 2020.
At the same time, the Armenian Tourism Center has revealed talks with another European LCC, presumably Wizz Air, over the opening of flights into Gyumri, in the country's northwestern region, close to the border with Turkey.
Armenia introduced an open skies policy in 2013 and has since seen foreign carriers entering the market, while efforts by Armenia to sustain an own national carrier have failed repeatedly.
