Feb 08, 2019 (newstodate): Turkmenistan Airlines has lost its TCO license to operate into EU airspace for failing to meet international air safety standards - but is now resuming traffic to the UK.
While the carrier had to suspend all flights from Turkmenistan to its European destinations Birmingham, London, Frankfurt and Paris from the start of this week, flights on the route between Birmingham and Ashgabat have now been resumed.
The Turkmen carrier has contracted the Spanish charter carrier Wamos Air to operate the flights on an ACMI contract while working on solutions to the problems found by EASA.
Especially the route connecting Birmingham and Ashgabat is important as it provides onward flight connection to Amritsar, in India, for the large Indian diaspora in the UK.
