Feb 20, 2019 (newstodate): The Superjet 100 aircraft rejected by the Irish carrier CityJet will find a new operator in Europe: Slovenia's Adria Airways.
In November 2018, Adria Airways signed a contract with Sukhoi for 15 Superjet 100 aircraft, with deliveries to start already in 2019 - and the first of these aircraft will be the aircraft redelivered to Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company as CityJet decided to phase out the aircraft type, allegedly over lack of maintenance support.
To support the coming Superjet 100 operations, the agreement between the parties also comprises the set up by the two parties of an Superjet 100 Maintenance and Repair Organization at Ljubljana Airport.
The gradual acceptance of the coming fleet of Superjet 100 aircraft will allow Adria Airways to allocate its fleet of three Airbus A319 and 12 Bombardier CRJ aircraft to the ACMI market.
