Feb 14, 2019 (newstodate): Slightly more than one-fourth of all SAS flights are operated by external providers, and in 2018 more than three out of 10 SAS flights were performed by providers, according to FlightStats.
In the SAS fleet are today 157 aircraft, 40 of which are operated by external providers including CityJet with 22 CRJ900, Air Nostrum with two CDRJ900, Flybe with five ATR 72, Nordica with four ATR 72, and seven Airbus A320neo from SAS Ireland, a subsidiary of the SAS Group.
On April 5, 2013, SAS signed a three-year contract with the Danish ACMI provider Jet Time for ATR 72-600 operations to and from the Danish and Swedish capitals.
But Jet Time pulled out with its last flight for SAS on September 2, 2017, returning the eight ATR 72-600 aircraft to the lessor under a new strategy to take complexity out of its business.
