Feb 19, 2019 (newstodate): Leaving a lofty vision to become "the World´s Greatest Aviation Service Provider" behind, the Nordic ground handling provider Aviator has embarked on a more pragmatic strategy - with new results.
After a major restructuring during the past two years, Aviator is thus again looking at expanding into new stations, new areas and growing the existing business.
In Denmark, Aviator has won the handling of all airlines in the Lufthansa Group, adding Lufthansa that has so far been a customer with the SAS Group's Spirit, while the three other airlines in the group were already Aviator customers.
In Sweden, Aviator has won contracts with Eurowings and LOT in Gothenburg and Stockholm Arlanda, with BRA in Gothenburg and Malmo; contracts have also been extended with Wideroe, UPS and TNT, and Aviator is currently negotiating further contracts expansions with other customers in the Swedish market.
In Norway, Aviator has succeeded in extending the contracts with Wizz Air at seven stations in Norway, along with Logan Air, Titan Air, Air Wings and DHL.
In Finland, Aviator recently won Ukraine International and Aegean, and the company is soon to start cooperation with the new Chinese airlines Juneyao and Tibet Airlines, while also extending the contracts with JAL and FedEx.
In the UK, Aviator has started a partnership with Etihad in Manchester from earlier this month, and Aviator is planning for significant expansion going forward.
In the wake of the company's collapse in the UK market, Aviator's turn-around has been spearheaded by Jo Alex Tanem who took over the position as Aviator CEO on April 27, 2016.
With new HQs at Arlanda Sky City from February 1, 2019, Aviator employs a staff of 2,500 people.
