Feb 26, 2019 (newstodate): Since December 2015, Thailand has been rated Category 2 by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
And this remains the status after a renewed technical safety audit in January 2019 of Thailand's compliance with ICAO's safety standards, which identified 26 remaining snags in safety issues.
This means that Thai carriers remain barred from launching flights on new routes to USA or entering new code-share agreement with US-based airlines.
The uncertainty around safety in Thailand's aviation also causes foreign airlines to put plans for new Thai business ventures on hold.
