Feb 22, 2019 (newstodate): The Lithuanian ACMI and charter carrier GetJet Airlines is adding new capacity to its fleet. The airlines has signed a lease contract with GECAS for three A320-200, all slated for delivery by spring 2019 already. Behind the decision to boost the fleet is the recent demise of airlines such as Small Planet Airlines that has left a void to be filled before the start of the coming summer season. When the three deliveries are completed, GetJet Airlines will have a fleet of 15 aircraft including seven A320 and seven Boeing 737 classics as well as one Airbus A330 aircraft - the first to be registered in the Baltic region. GetJet Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A320 aircraft only on March 20, 2018. Set up in 2011 and based at Vilnius Airport, GetJet Airlines received its AOC in 2016, starting business as an aircraft brokering company, but now focusing on charter and ACMI contracts. The carrier was IOSA-certified on January 7, 2018, opening up for ACMI contracts with carriers.
