Feb 13, 2019 (newstodate): Ukraine's Kiev Boryspil Airport is in dire needs for a new and larger cargo facility to cope with rising volumes.
Designed in 1968 with nine warehouses for handling together up to a maximum of 100 tonnes of cargo per day, the current terminal is increasingly unable to cope with volumes that have today risen to about 300 tonnes.
Plans are there now on the table for demolishing the existing facility in 2019 and start the construction a new cargo terminal.
The crucial issue facing the airport is, however, the financing of the project under a business model securing investors' money.
The airport board has, however, earlier said that the project must go ahead even if it has to foot the bills itself.
