Feb 05, 2019 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's SCAT Airlines is working on plans for opening new routes to Europe.
High on the agenda is now start of flights between Almaty and Prague, in the Czech Republic, and the Czech Ambassador to Kazakhstan has been visiting Almaty in January 2019 to discuss the opening of a direct flight to Prague with representatives from SCAT Airlines, according to the Ambassador's entry on his facebook page.
Obtaining its TCO license in 2017, SCAT Airlines introduced flights between Vilnius, in Lithuania, and Astana, in Kazakhstan, with two weekly rotations served with Boeing 737 aircraft.
The route to Vilnius launched on May 27, 2018, marked SCAT's entry into EU markets, and the carrier plans for starting up on a total of 14 routes to EU destinations over the coming few years.
In the fleet of IOSA-certified SCAT Airline are now 20 aircraft including one Boeing 767-300, four Boeing 757-200, and 10 Boeing 737 aircraft of various types.
In November 2017 the carrier placed an order with Boeing for delivery of six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with options for a further five aircraft of this type.
SCAT Airlines was on the list of air carriers banned in the EU until December 8, 2016.
