Feb 19, 2019 (newstodate): Grozny Airport, in Russia's Chechen province, needs expansion and modernization.
And luckily, Gulf money may be at hand to foot the bill as Abu Dhabi Development Fund is studying the issue of investing USD 50 mio in building the airport to serve Grozny.
The new airport project comprises the construction of a new airport terminal to make the airport "the largest international airport in the Caucasus region".
The coming airport, when commissioned, will have the capacity of handling 1.5 mio passengers annually - which will hardly qualify for the region's top position as Georgia's Tbilisi Airport already passed the four mio passengers-mark in 2018.
