Feb 05, 2019 (newstodate): Never a dull moment in Greenland's airport business that is facing large-scale construction projects to create an entirely new infrastructure in the country.
Quite unexpectedly, Steffen Ulrich-Lynge has stepped down as Kalaallit Airports A/S CEO - a position held from the start of Kalaallit Airports A/S, set up in June 2016 to shoulder the task of planning and steering the projects, freezing an investment plan and seek investors.
As an interim solution, the Board has picked the company's current CFO Peter Wistoft to fill the chair till a permanent successor has been selected.
Plans so far confirmed are that the runway at the capital airport at Nuuk will be extended to 1,800m from today's 950m, Ilulissat Airport will also have its runway extended to 1,800m from today's 845m, and a new airport will be constructed at Qaqortoq with a 1,200m runway.
