Feb 25, 2019 (newstodate): Icelandair has now taken delivery of its first of six Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft.
The aircraft landed at Keflavik Airport on February 22, 2019, and will be followed by more new deliveries to the fleet.
The carrier has placed orders for a total of 16 aircraft, with the first three Boeing 737-8 delivered in 2018, followed by another three 737-8 and two more Boeing 737-9 aircraft in 2019.
In 2020, the carrier will receive four Boeing 737-9 and one 737-8, to be followed by another two 737-9 in 2021.
In the fleet now are four Boeing 767-300ER and 25 Boeing 757-200 and two Boeing 757-300 aircraft that are expected to remain with Icelandair until around 2025.
