Feb 13, 2019 (newstodate): Finnair is to stop flights on the route to Goa, the Indian leisure destination, from the next winter schedule.
While the news has not yet been announced by the carrier, it was reported yesterday by a leading Indian media.
Finnair has been offering flights from Helsinki to Goa since 1994, initially as pure charter flights and since 2018 as a scheduled service with two weekly rotations.
Speculations are that Finnair may need the freed aircraft capacity on either opening up new routes or increasing frequencies on existing routes - or the reason might be high costs of operations that was behind another European operator, Condor's retreat from Goa in 2015, causing a major drop in tourist traffic to the Indian leisure destination over the last few years.
