Feb 07, 2019 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo came off to a strong start in 2019, with total volumes rising 27.5 percent, y-o-y, to 11,986 tonnes.
The increase was driven by a strong positive cargo market development in Japan and Western Europe, while the Nordic markets also developed favorably.
Volumes on the Asian lanes were thus up 20.7 percent, y-o-y, to 8,939 tonnes, loads on the European network increased by no less than 139.2 percent to 2,340, while volumes on the North Atlantic routes were up 34.3 percent to 651 tonnes.
All cargo is now transported on the carrier's passenger flights as all-cargo services have been laid down.
Loads factors were also up as revenue scheduled cargo tonne-kilometers increased by 25.9 percent, overtaking the growth by 17.2 percent in available scheduled cargo tonne-kilometers.
