Dec 02, 2019 (newstodate): The ban on flights by Turkmenistan Airlines into EU airspace has now been lifted, and the carrier is soon to resume services.
Already next week, the carrier will be back on routes to Birmingham and Frankfurt.
With a Boeing 737-800, Turkmenistan Airlines will operate from Ashgabat International Airport to Birmingham from December 6, and to Frankfurt the following day.
EASA revoked the carrier's TCO licence on February 4, 2019, causing Turkmenistan Airlines to suspend flights on important routes into the EU pending confirmation that it meets international air safety standards.
The carrier has now successfully passed a series of checks for compliance with the requirements of EASA, and a similar scrutiny of the safety at the country's main international gateway Ashgabat International Airport has also been competed without any remaining issues to be verified.
Turkmenistan Airlines will next resume flights to Kuala Lumpur in February 2020, and plans to launch flights to Ho Chi Minh and Jeddah also in 2020.
