Dec 09, 2019 (newstodate): As expected, SAS has obtained rights to fly into Tokyo Haneda Airport from the start of the summer 2020 schedule.
SAS will start operating the route from Copenhagen Airport with new Airbus A350 aircraft, while at the same time closing down flights on its current route between Copenhagen and Tokyo Narita Airport.
In September 2019, Tokyo Haneda Airport completed the process for new allocations for foreign airlines, opening up for Japan Air Lines to operate one daily rotation to Helsinki, in Finland, while All Nippon Airways has obtained slots for one daily flight from Spring 2020 to Stockholm Airport, fulfilling a long-nourished hope in the Swedish market for a direct non-stop Japanese air link.
In the Nordic region, Finnair will be alone in offering daily flights from Helsinki to both Tokyo airports from March 2020.
