Dec 20, 2019 (newstodate): The Vilnius-based ACMI and charter carrier Avion Express has landed an aircraft lease contract with the Polish carrier LOT.
Under the ACMI agreement running until May 31, 2020, Avion Express will place two Airbus A320 aircraft with LOT from January 14, 2020, with two more to commence flight operations for LOT on February 1, 2020.
All for aircraft will be based at Warsaw to operate both domestic and international flights.
The lease of the Airbus A320 aircraft will cover part of the shortfall of LOT's capacity due to the grounding of its five Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft
With a fleet comprising 22 aircraft, Avion Express is providing ACMI services to a range of airlines ACMI customers in Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia-Pacific.
Managed by Darius Kajokas since April 1, 2018, Avion Express traces its history back to 2005 as Nordic Solutions Air Services that operated SAAB 340 cargo and passenger aircraft.
In 2008, Avion Capital Partners, established by David Masson, became the major shareholder and the company was re-branded as Avion Express, introducing its first Airbus 320 passenger aircraft.
