Dec 05, 2019 (newstodate): Rumours circulating already before the end of last month did prove to be true: Norwegian is to scrap its adventure in Argentina, launched in 2017 through the subsidiary Norwegian Air Argentina.
As rumoured, Norwegian Air Argentina has been sold to JetSmart Argentina, owned by Indigo Partners, that will continue to partner with Norwegian while taking over all Norwegian's domestic flights in Argentina, fed from Norwegian's network via the route between London Gatwick and Buenos Aires.
The three Boeing 737-800 aircraft based with Norwegian Air Argentina will continue to fly for JetSmart during the first half of the year, after which they will be returned to Norwegian in Europe.
The move to close down Norwegian Air Argentina is part of the Norwegian Group's efforts to strive for profitability while retreating from the former hectic period of expansion.
