Dec 04, 2019 (newstodate): No news have surfaced on the planned launch of a dedicated seafood freighter from Norway's Bodo Airport earlier slated to start by November 2019.
Stakeholders in the project keep the cards tight.
-The process in moving forward and one issue holding back the launch of the coming new freighter service is the unsettled slot application at the Chinese destination, a source within the working group, requesting anonymity, told newstodate in October.
-Many other issues have been solved, including an agreement with the yet-undisclosed airline that will operate the flights from Bodo Airport to the Chinese destination via its hub. We expect the landing right issue to be solved shortly, with start of the freighter service by November 2019, the source said.
But so far, the only tangible proof of the existence of the project was the delivery of a main-deck cargo loader to Bodo Airport in August 2019.
In the meantime, seafood exporters in Norway's northern production region can benefit from the growing capacity out of Finland's Helsinki Airport that will be offering so far 45 weekly wide-body aircraft flights to destinations in Japan, 53 to Grater China, and seven to Singapore in 2020.
The flights from Helsinki are reached with trucking services significantly faster than alternatively trucking into Oslo Airport.
