Dec 20, 2020 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo has landed a contract with TNT and FedEx concerning transport of all shipments to and from Iceland.
The three-year contract takes effect from early in 2020 and will boost the volume of Icelandair Cargo flights between Iceland and Liege, the hub of FedEx and TNT in Europe.
Icelandair Cargo will thus operate seven weekly rotations between Keflavik and Liege, and three weekly rotations to East Midlands.
Icelandair Cargo expects to fly some 50,000 tonnes of air cargo in 2020, of which about 60 percent on Icelandair's passenger aircraft.
In the fleet of Icelandair are now 23 Boeing 757-200, two Boeing 757-300, and four Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, while the carrier is also operating two Boeing 757-200PF freighter aircraft on routes between Iceland and Europe as well as serving with integrators on wet-lease contracts.
