Dec 20, 2019 (newstodate): Air Iceland Connect is working hard to divest of excess aircraft capacity as its domestic and regional traffic has declined dramatically.
Now one of the carrier's Bombardier Q400 aircraft has finally found its way out of Iceland, placed on a five-year dry-lease contract with LAM Mozambique Airlines.
On the sales desk of Air Iceland Connect is still one Bombardier Dash Q200 aircraft, and after the exit of the Q400 aircraft the carrier has two Q400 and three Q200 aircraft in the fleet.
Air Iceland Connect took in the first of three Q400 aircraft on January 24, 2016, as a replacement for the five Fokker 50 aircraft due for retirement after serving as the carrier's backbone since May 1965.
