Nov 12, 2019 (newstodate): With effect from November 5, 2019, Emirates SkyCargo has moved its cargo handling at Copenhagen Airport to WFS.
The move is not least motivated by the opening on September 3, 2019, of the new WFS Pharma Centre at Copenhagen Airport with the capacity of providing temperature-controlled end-to-end handling of 300 pallets and 30 PMCs in the 2-8 degrees range, in addition to the capacity of providing temperature-controlled handling space in the 15-25 degrees range at other parts of the cargo terminals.
-Copenhagen is an important pharma station for Emirates SkyCargo and the move to a facility that provides dedicated pharma handling is aligned with our customer requirements for protecting the integrity of valuable pharma cargo while also ensuring that cargo is transported rapidly and efficiently, says Henrik Ambak, Emirates SkyCargo Snr VP Cargo Operations Worldwide, in a comment.
The contract with WFS at Copenhagen Airport comprises all cargo shipments, including pharma and other perishables.
Until this move, Emirates SkyCargo was handled by Spirit Air Cargo Handling at Copenhagen Airport, where Aviator continues to provide the carrier with ramp handling.
Launch customer at the WFS Pharma Centre was LATAM Cargo offering a weekly flight with a Boeing 767-300 freighter since June 20, 2019, and targeting not least the Scandinavian pharma exporting companies.
