Nov 07, 2019 (newstodate): Russia is determined to support its commercial aircraft industry despite little success in sales abroad.
The happy operator of the largest fleet of Superjet 100 aircraft, Aeroflot now with 49 Superjet 100 in the fleet, is to take in a batch of no less than 100 aircraft backed by a funding mechanism of VEB Russian state development corporation that will purchase the aircraft over a period of six years to 2026 and then arranging a 12-year operating lease contract with Aeroflot.
Aeroflot is slated to take delivery of 10 more Superjet 100 aircraft in 2019, but so far only five have actually been delivered.
