Nov 20, 2019 (newstodate): Problems with the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft is a major issue for operators - and certainly so for Norwegian.
Norwegian has 11 MAX 8 aircraft in the fleet, and their grounding poses a major challenge to its ability to maintain scheduled services which is only possible by leasing in capacity, incurring extra costs.
-The big thing is to get the MAX 8 aircraft back into the air once the certification process is completed, said Bjorn Kjos, Advisor to the Norwegian Chairman of the Board, founder, co-owner and until recently CEO of the carrier, speaking at the ongoing IATA Wings of Change conference in Berlin.
-Basically, the MAX is a great aircraft, but of course the challenge will be to build up trust in the aircraft.
-This will require efforts to get passengers and staff to like and be comfortable with it.
-Happily, people generally have a short memory! And the aircraft will be good, said Mr Kjos.
