Nov 29, 2019 (newstodate): Starting from the coming summer schedule, 2020 will see a significant increase in the volume of flights between Iceland and Finland.
Serving the route between Keflavik and Helsinki Airport for over 30 years, Icelandair has announced plans to increase frequency on the route from nine to 14 weekly rotations from May 15, 2020, to be operated with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft if this aircraft type is certified by then.
Newcomer to the route will be the Chinese carrier Juneyao Airlines with two weekly rotations from March 29, 2020, as an extension to its route between Shanghai and Helsinki.
In summer 2020, the total number of weekly connections between Iceland and Finland will increase to 23, compared to 16 in summer 2019, adding direct flights by Finnair and indirect flights by SAS via Copenhagen as well as via Oslo.
