Nov 04, 2019 (newstodate): With its latest statistics from October 2019, Denmark's Billund Airport has come even with last year's 10-months level in cargo volumes, after sharing in this year's global downturn in the industry.
In October 2019, a total of 6,702 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, an increase by 2.1 percent, y-o-y, boosted by a 10 percent rise in exports to 4,743 tonnes.
Exports thus again outbalanced the sustained drop in imports, in October down by 13.2 percent to 1,959 tonnes.
In January-October the airport handled a total of 61,316 tonnes, unchanged against 2018, including 42,109 tonnes of exports, up 5.2 percent, and 19,207 tonnes of imports that were down 9.6 percent.
If October 2019 was really the tipping point, 2019 may still end above last year's full-year volumes that landed at 73,221 tonnes, setting a new record in cargo for Western Denmark's leading international airport
