Nov 27, 2019 (newstodate): As part of its efforts to turn from expansion to consolidation in order to obtain profitability, Norwegian is closing down all long-haul flights from Sweden and Denmark in 2020.
By the end of this winter schedule, Norwegian is thus retreating from routes from Copenhagen to Thailand and the USA, as well as from routes from Stockholm to the USA and Thailand.
In Norway, Norwegian will however continue operating its routes from Oslo to the USA, while the routes to Thailand served during the winter schedule are in the balance after this winter's operation.
From the next summer 2020 schedule, Norwegian's customers in Denmark and Sweden for flights to the USA and South America will thus have to transfer via London and Oslo.
Besides the struggle to regain financial health, Norwegian has also been struggling with power plant problems on its Boeing 787 fleet as well as the grounding of its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
